Rob Cox certainly likes the Cob House Fishery when he retained his doubles crown at the same venue, but with every doubles event you have to have a reliable partner and Andy Taylor proved just that with another consistent performance.
Rob led the way for the winning duo by taking maximum points in section 2 when he put 95lb onto the scales from peg 23 on the far side of the pool, Andy collected two points for his 70lb 4oz in section 1 which gave the winners a four point margin.
Runners up where Juan Periera and Ian Rennie who must have started as favourites at the all in whistle, Juan used the feeder from peg 1 and caught well throughout the match to end with the day’s top weight of 98lb 12oz which was enough for top points in Section 1. Ian found the going hard at the start in section 2 but found the fish later in the match to end with 41lb which gave him six points.
Brian Tovey and Peter Bullock collected the third place prize when they amassed a total of 9 points. Brian was fishing in Section 1 on peg 9 and put a nice bag onto the scales for 47lb 8oz which gave him 4 points, partner Peter Bullock found most of his fish in the margins late on for a weight of 42lb 4oz which was enough for 5 points.
Bob Hinks and Paul Hotchkiss ended the five hour match in fourth place just a point behind the third place team, Bob registered a very good 64lb whilst partner Paul managed 30lb12oz from peg 26.
Dave Robinson and Kieren Smith finished Fifth with 12 points, Dave put 32lb 8oz onto the scales and Kieren put together a nice bag for 50llb which included the biggest fish so far a 12lb lump.
