DOUBLES DELIGHT FOR mARY & paul
Mary Turner and Paul Hotchkiss are our Doubles champions for 2020 with a convincing win at Packington Somers. The contest was fished on a very difficult Molands Lake where all 21 members fishing found the going tough and only 7 managed to reach double figures.
Mary posted the best weight of the day from end peg 27 fishing the feeder across to the island she landed some nice looking Carp to put 31 pound 8 ounces onto the scales which was enough for the section win while Paul picked up two points from section Two with a mixed bag of Carp and Silvers which pushed the scales around to 12 pound 4 ounces. Paul used the feeder and pole throughout the five hour match.
Andy Taylor and Brian Tovey took the runners-up spot with A total of six points. It was nice to see Brian Tovey back on the bank for the first time this season and he showed he hasn’t lost the knack picking up two points in his section with 12 pound 4 ounces whilst he partner Andy struggled for just over Seven pound which was enough for for four points.
Michael Farrell and Sophie Wallace collected the third place envelope with a total score of eight points. Michael rescued his day near the end of the match with a nice looking lump which helped him to weigh in an ounce over 14 pound to collect two points in section one. New comer to the club this season Sophie like most in her section couldn’t find any decent fish but she persevered to collect six points with her three pound.
Ian Hughes and John Male both collected Five points from their sections which proved enough for fourth spot. Ian fishing from peg 44 on the point landed seven pound exactly whilst John was in the end peg 60 and put three pound seven ounces on the scales. John recons he could have doubled his weight if he could have weighed in all the Cray fish he caught.
Pete Bullock landed the biggest fish of the season so far when he netted a 10 pound 9 ounce lump from peg 43
