John King collected his second piece of Silver ware this season after winning a close match at Packington on the Molands Mere Lake.
John fishing peg 43 used corn on the deck at 10 metres throughout the match sore him put 32lb100z on scales with a mixed bag of Silvers and Carp. John will have to make space in his trophy cabinet for the Birmingham Banter trophy which goes to the winner.
Less than a pound behind the winner was Andy Taylor who managed to put 31lb11oz in the net from peg 53 for second place. This was Andy’s best result of his first season with our club and I think it’s only a matter of time before he takes some silverware and top spot.
Brian Tovey is very consistent of late and grabbed third spot with a creditable 29lb10oz. Brian was fishing from peg 47 and put a mixed bag onto the scales and like Andy if Brian keeps his good form going I can only see him take top spot in one of our matches.
Kieran Smith completed the frame in fourth place with 21lb10oz another mixture of Carp and Silvers from peg 31. Kieran had most of his fish on the pole using worm at various distances.
Rob Cox who entertained us all early on with his bugle playing finished in Fifth place with 21lb6oz, Rob reckons the racket turned the fish on.
Steve Cox who lost a lump early on ended in sixth with 18lb13oz.
On the whole it was a patchy match at Packington although 13 members reached double figures there where a lot of poor weights due to the Carp no showing . The good thing was the weather I think it’s the first match this season when we haven’t had any rain.
Not a lot of members took a look at my friend behind my peg 44, for those who missed the pleasure it was a scarecrow dressed up in all the latest gear.
