John King celebrated his first win in a Exel Angling club match
by taking the honours on a very disappointing Oaks Lake at
Arden Fishery.
John drew peg 34 on the far side of the lake and put together 15lb14ozs which included a number of Barbel.
Dave Crosby collected the runners-up spot with some late action from peg 24, Dave managed to tempt a couple of fish on the feeder before finishing off his day with a decent Carp from the margins on the pole for 10lb8ozs.
Dave Robinson put his back problems to one side to finish in third spot putting a mixed bag of fish on the scales for 8lb 15ozs but you can see by the weight he had to work hard to collect the frame finish.
Making his first appearance of the season Mark Jones just sneaked the fourth place by five ounces with 6lb3oz. Mark had to wait along time for his first fish which came from close to the island, but like the buses, once one came along it was followed quickly by another.
Kieran Smith just missed out on the top four ending with 5lb14ozs from peg 30, and it was nice to see Steve Kavanagh again fishing as a guest who finished in sixth with 5lb2ozs.
