BILL AND FRANK WIN A CLOSE DOUBLES COMPETITION
BILL GRIBON COLLECTED HIS FIRST SILVERWARE WITH OUR CLUB WHEN HE PARTNERED WITH FRANK WALLACE TO LIFT THE DOUBLES TROPHY HELD. ON THE PARK AND ISLAND POOLS AT LOWER PARK.
FRANK LED THE WAY BY COLLECTING ONE POINT ON THE PARK POOL WITH A WEIGHT OF 69 POUNDS 2 OUNCES (I CHECKED WITH THE BALIFF AFTER THE MATCH AND THE NET LIMIT IS 60 POUNDS). BILL DID ENOUGH ON THE ISLAND POOL TO SECURE THREE POINTS WITH A WEIGHT OF 23 POUNDS 2 OUNCES WHICH INCLUDED A NICE-LOOKING LUMP. THIS IS THE SECOND YEAR RUNNING THAT FRANK HAS WON THE DOUBLES BUT BILL STOLE THE SHOW BY COLLECTING A TROPHY IN HIS FIRST SEASON.
PUSHING THE WINNERS ALL THE WAY WAS MICHAEL FARRELL AND IAN RENNIE WHO BETWEEN THEM MUSTERED 5 POINTS ONE SHORT OF THE WINNERS. FAZ PRODUCED THE BEST WEIGHT OF THE DAY ON THE ISLAND POOL WITH JUST OVER 42 POUNDS WITH A MIXTURE OF FISH ON THE FEEDER AND POLE. IAN RENNIE IS SLOWLY RETURNING TO THE FORM HE IS CAPABLE OF WHEN PUTTING A NICE MIXED BAG ONTO THE SCALES FOR 38 POUNDS 5 OUNCES WHICH GAVE HIM FOUR POINTS FROM PEG 24 ON PARK POOL.
JUST A COUPLE OF MORE FISH FROM IAN COULD HAVE MADE IT INTERESTING TO THE RESULT.
AFTER THE DISPUTE REGARDING NET LIMITS AT LOWER PARK ROB COX AND DAVE SKINNER ENDED IN THIRD PLACE WITH A TOTAL OF SIX POINTS. ROB COX LED THE WAY WITH TWO POINTS FROM PEG 3 ON PARK POOL WHEN HE PUSHED THE SCALES TO 62 POUNDS 9 OUNCES. DAVE FISHED FROM PEG 1 ON THE ISLAND POOL AND PUT A MIXED BAG ON THE SCALES FOR A LEVEL 18 POUNDS. ROB LOST A NICE GHOST CARP NEAR THE END WHICH COULD HAVE GIVEN HIM THE BEST WEIGHT ON THE DAY.
