Mary Turner who joined the club this season collected her first Individual victory by winning on the Horseshoe Pool at Alvechurch Fishery. It was the first match of 2015 that we have had settled weather conditions and Mary made the most not only of the condition but also peg 29, winning with over nine pound to spare. Mary used the feeder throughout the five hour match three quarters the way across to the island. Mary will collect the Friendship trophy at the presentation later in the year.
Fishing a couple of pegs up from the winner Darren Bullock collected the runners up prize putting 41lb12oz on the scales. Darren used a mixture of feeder and pole and hooked into a couple of lumps from the under the tree to his left that helped his finishing total.
John Male showed once again that he can catch on all methods besides the pole. John caught most of his 37lb 5oz on the feeder from peg 35 near the entrance to the pool. John could have added to his total weight but for some reason he started to pack up some 20 minutes before the end.
Ian Rennie, fishing between the winner and second place, was back to something like his old self after a couple of disappointing matches to finish fourth. Ian lost a good fish in the first minute but put that behind him to put 31lb 14oz on the scales.
Newcomer this season Andy Taylor finished in fifth place with 31lbs 12ozs just two ounces shy of fourth spot.
Dave Robinson who is still struggling with his bad back ended in sixth with 27lbs 13ozs.
A special word for Alan Whitmore who landed the biggest fish of the day a 9lb 8oz lump from peg 25
