MARK JONES WINS A GREAT MATCH AT ALVECHURCH CANAL POOL

The Canal pool at Alvechurch Fishery has come on leaps and bounds since it opened early last year and it certainly played it’s part in a great match when all 24 members weighed in with double figures or more.
Leading the way in a tight leaderboard was Mark Jones who put a great bag of mixed fish which included Carp, Barbel, and Ide on the scales for a winning weight of 48lb 6oz. Mark was in peg 23 on the right hand side of the pool which coincidentally won the previous days open match, he used the pole at various distances to tempt his cracking bag of fish.
Running Mark close was Dave Robinson who was pegged near the entrance and put 47lb 7oz on the scales for second place. Dave used the pole, fishing paste at three meters right in front of him.
John Male had a slow start from peg 27 but soon as he found the fish he rattled in 46lb 14oz for third place. John used the feeder early on but changed his fortunes when he reverted to fishing the dead red maggot under his feet.
Juan Periera finished in fourth with 44lb 11oz, Juan has had a poor start to the season but soon put that behind him with some lovely fish from the island using the feeder throughout the five hours.
Mary Turner finished in fifth from peg 8 with 42lb 12oz whilst the consistent Pete Bullock ended up in sixth with 40lb 8oz.
