From the comment left on the blog page I take it that everyone had a good day, no more that Darren Bullock who won a close match with 16lb 5oz closely followed by Bob Hinks weighing in 15lb 9oz. Like the last club match Bob was the first to weigh in and remained in the lead until the last man Darren was weighed. In third was last years winner Ian Rennie who put 14lb 14oz on the scales, Ian was followed by our regular guest, brother Paul with 13lb 14oz.
For those who where unable to fish the match if you read the blog page you will hopefully get a flavour of the day, as Steve noted the banter started now sooner we got into the pub for breakfast and contrary to what Alan Whitmore said the building across from the pub was a Church not a mosque. Alan I told Sarah (the young lady who served us) what you had said and she wait to meet you again next year.
By the time we got to the pool the mood had become more somber due to everyone's concern about Dave, but thankfully we managed to persuade Dave to sit this one out. I'm sure we are all glad to hear Dave is feeling much better and looking forward to the next match.
Steve started the match by blowing the whistle, (which was like the old police one and left the local constabulary confused)
Those who decided to fish for the silvers where soon adding fish to the net but the carp men had to wait some time before they started to catch.
Like normal the friendly banter was flying about and most where joining in the sing song thanks to the music supplied via Ian's phone. When Ian stated he was struggling I told he to put Des O'Conner on and low and behold with in 60 second of playing the tune he had a carp in the net.
I would like to thank everyone that fished the match plus those member who where unable to fish but made a donation donated. Special thank to Alan Whitmore for running a card and donating the proceeds to the charity, the winner of the card who donated it to the charity plus all the prize winner who also donated their winnings to the charity. I have contact the secretary of the club who kindly let us use the pool and he as indicated to me that it was more than likely they would also donate the £28.00 peg free to the charity.
If this is the case then we would be donating the total of £202.00 to the COPD & ASTHMA charity.
